OUR WHY

Experiencing the disappearance of a loved one or discovering they have been a victim of a crime is a profoundly distressing situation. It can leave you feeling overwhelmed, helpless, and unsure of where to turn for support. When faced with a crisis, it is common to feel lost and confused. The uncertainty of not knowing what to do next can be paralyzing. In such moments, having a compassionate and understanding ally is crucial.

Everyday thousands of people go missing, all ages, race, and gender. The National Crime Information Center is managed by the FBI. As of December 31, 2023, NCIC contained 96,955 active missing person records. Juveniles under the age of 18 account for 29,451 (30 percent) of the records and 38,276 (39 percent) records when juveniles are defined as under 21 years of age. Yet, there is NO EXACT number for missing Latinos in the United States of America, the reason is because Hispanics/Latinos are not considered to be a race and rather an ethnic group. Latinos are to be entered under "white" but we have found that the officers aren't always clicking off the correct boxes and some are listed under "black" or "unknown." Our initiative to assist families of the missing opened another door of Victims of Crime which led WeLATINOS to created programs for crime prevention focused on family building bonds and safety. Our safety programs teach about Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse.
